Greetings!
On behalf of the Rio Grande School Head Search Committee, I am pleased to share with you the Position Statement for the RGS Head of School Search.
The statement was authored by our search consultant, Clay Stites of Resource Group 175, after spending several days on campus in December and having extensive discussions with parents, faculty, staff, and trustees. Clay also posted an online survey to which 39 members of the RGS community responded. The Search Committee provided significant input and then worked closely with Clay on the final draft to make sure that we accurately described our community, the school, and the professional background and personal qualities that we are seeking in our next Head of School.
Clay has already distributed the position statement to heads, division heads, and other key contacts at leading independent schools across the nation. I encourage you to read the statement and share it with anyone you know who may lead us to potential candidates.
Several members of the community have asked about the possibility of our appointing an Interim Head of School for 2010-11. The Search Committee and the Board of Trustees are operating on the possibility of having a new Head of School in place by July 1, 2010. However, if we are unable in the next few months to find an exceptional individual to lead RGS, the Board will make interim arrangements.
As always, you can stay posted by checking the Head Search section of the RGS website. You can also provide suggestions or advise us of any thoughts you may have. The Search Committee's goal is to conduct a transparent and inclusive search process. We believe that will yield the best candidate and ultimately help him or her lead the school effectively. |
